The City of Newton is located in Middlesex County. It was settled in 1630. Newton was incorporated as a separate town, known as Cambridge Village, in 1688. It was renamed Newtown in 1691, and finally, in1766, Newton. It became a city in 1873. Newton is known as “The Garden City.”
Newton historian Diana Muir described the early industries that developed here in the late 18th and 19th centuries – they were a series of mills that were built to take advantage of the water power available. Snuff, chocolate, paper, glue and other products were produced in these small mills but water power available in Newton was not sufficient to turn Newton into a manufacturing city. In 1902, Newton became home to the Stanley Motor Carriage Company, the maker of the famous Stanley Steamer.Experienced Newton, Massachusetts Criminal Defense Attorney
It’s not hard to imagine the following: You’re out at a restaurant in Newton, you have a couple of drinks over perhaps 90 minutes, and you do not feel intoxicated. Everything seems under control. That is, until you drive home, and are stopped by police at a traffic light. The officer smells alcohol on your breath and asks you to take a breathalyzer test. You refuse, and are arrested for DUI/OUI driving under the influence of alcohol in Newton. What to do?
The first thing to do is, don’t panic. Do not resist arrest, but do not volunteer any information to police other than your name, address, and driver’s license information.
