The town of Rockland, Massachusetts is located in Plymouth County. It was formed by European settlers in 1673. The town was incorporated into Rockland in 1874. It is named for the town's rocky nature, which was better suited for mills and industry than for farming. During the 20th century, the town was the site of landing strips at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. The airstrip closed in 1996. Recently, many artists have moved into the community; they are attracted by former factory buildings as a place to work and meet.Experienced Rockland, Massachusetts Criminal Defense Attorney
