If you have not been arrested, but instead either a person or a Police Department in any of the above towns has filed what is known as a “Criminal Complaint” against you in this court, a Clerk-Magistrate’s Hearing, (also called a Show-Cause Hearing will also take place at Wrentham District Court.

Usually, a small number of different judges (typically 2 or 3) rotate at Wrentham District Court, depending on judicial assignments for a particular week. There is usually one judge who handles arraignments, probation violations, and pre-trial conferences. Typically the other judges handle jury trials and civil business. Wrentham District Court also has a Clerk’s Office and Probation Department. The court handles both criminal and civil jury trials, as well as what are called “bench trials,” which are trials held before a judge, and not a jury. Wrentham District Court also sometimes handles “overflow” jury trials for other courts in Norfolk County.
